Food Brands: Hungry for Licensing

Most of us think of kids toys, character brands or branded apparel when we think of licensing, but licensing doesn't stop there. Food brands are big in licensing, too, acting as both licensor and licensee. Take a look at some examples below:

Tips for Keeping Your DAM System Healthy

A digital asset management system is a great tool for saving time and money. Hosted systems like Mediabox-DAM allow users to manage and share assets from one convenient location with any internal or external guest who has an internet connection.

Want to make sure your DAM system remains healthy? Here are a few tips:

1. Be aware of aliased assets- duplications lead to redundant data
2. Archive old files- access activity reports to see which files are accessed infrequently
3. Reorganize your folders- delete or update old folders
4. Analyze your folders- if you have thousands of assets in one folder you might want to create subfolders
5. Identify required metadata- inform users uploading assets which metadata fields are necessary

Product Approval Testimonial: Lazytown

"We have been very impressed with the Mediabox-PA system since we started using it in January 2010. In addition to being easy to learn and use, Mediabox has helped us streamline our process, resulting in faster turnaround times. We estimate that since implementing Mediabox, we have reduced turnaround time by approximately 50%. It's great to have all material and comments regarding a submission in one place, as well as to be able to generate reports with a couple of clicks and add reviewer team members to individual projects when needed. After using Mediabox we can't imagine going back to our old system!"

Press Release: MyMediabox Attends BLE!

Conecture Technologies, LLC will be showcasing its industry leading product approvals workflow application, Mediabox-PA (part of the MyMediabox consumer products licensing software suite) at Brand Licensing Europe, which is held from October 16-18 in London. Executives will demo the latest version of Mediabox-PA that offers a new UI, bulk close of projects, a messaging tool and more. MyMediabox's deal memo system, Mediabox-DM, which integrates with Mediabox-PA will be showcased as well.

With Mediabox-PA (Online Product Approvals), the entire approval process is all in one easy-to-find location. Once logged into the system users can complete a new product approval form, submit concept designs through final production samples and preview, comment and mark up designs on screen. Automated email notices, role-based approvals workflows, business rules and archiving make the system even more robust. The newest addition to the MyMediabox suite, Mediabox-DM, allows Licensors to track all deal memo terms, via automatic imports from third-party rights and royalty systems or direct data entry. Mediabox-DM also regulates the types of projects a Licensee can start in the system.

Eric Rennagel, CEO and Founder of Conecture Technologies, LLC states, "As always we are excited to attend BLE, it is a great opportunity to showcase the upgrades to the MyMediabox suite made throughout the year to current and potential clients."

Executives will have the opportunity to view a brief demonstration and speak with representatives about MyMediabox applications during Brand Licensing Europe.

For more information about MyMediabox visit www.mymediabox.com. If you would like to schedule a meeting at Brand Licensing Europe, contact Emilee Feldman at emilee@mymediabox.com.

Brain Waves: The Future of Fashion?

Traditionally when we think of fashion, we think of static accoutrements that we put on to express who we are. Now with fashion licensing, the opportunity for self expression has grown. Increasingly consumers will see their favorite character and fashion brands infused. But will fashion stop there?

The answer is no. What is in store for the future of fashion and fashion licensing? Japanese company, Neurowear, believes it is brain wave operated fashion. See below:

Initially after watching the video, I myself thought it was a joke. Then I visited their website. Necomimi (fluffy brain wave controlled animal ears) are their first big hit and have already been licensed to a popular Japanese anime show, "The Wolf Children, Ame and Yuki."

Other new product lauches including: shippo (a brain wave controlled tail) and bo-shippo (a brain wave controlled tail hat) were presented at the Tokyo Game Show September 20th-23rd.

Will we see brain wave controlled fashion at upcoming licensing shows? I hope so... can't wait to see which brands license this first!

Mediabox Testimonial: Paramount

"MediaBox almost instantly solved many of the challenges our department had tracking and managing our assets and product development submissions. From the very beginning, Eric Rennagel and his team went out of their way to train our department and our licensees on how to use their system and to customize it to our specific needs. No question was too small and no request was too big. They even developed a special simplified system for submitting to 3rd party approvers that was above and beyond what they were required to do. The folks at MediaBox were constantly striving to create the best online management system and were always asking for feedback and implementing our suggestions. Very quickly, our department saved a lot of time and a lot of paper. Our licensees really appreciated the streamlined system as well. I highly recommend MediaBox. Whether you have a big company or a small one, this system will keep your assets and submissions organized and on track."

The Joester-Loria Group Testimonial

"Mediabox has proven to be an invaluable tool for our staff, licensors and our licensees around the globe. The website, which is very user friendly, allows our brand and property images and artwork to be available immediately to everyone 24/7. It also allows us to be in charge of what is on the website and the ability to change the art offered and the user access rights - easily, from our own computer, and at any time of the day or night, without having to rely on an outside service's availability. Mediabox has helped to reduce art fulfillment costs while freeing up valuable staff time to focus on more critical needs. It has been tremendously helpful for our company."
