Licensed properties popular at CES 2014

The Consumer Electronics Show took place this past week on January 7-10 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  More than 3,200 exhibitors and 152,000 attendees were present at the show. Licensed properties were abundant on the show floor this year and there were many companies showcasing their new products and partnerships.


Here are the top licensed products from CES this year:

  • Polaroid licensee C&A Licensing unveiled a modern version of the classic instant camera
  • SMS Audio (50 Cent’s company) in partnership with Lucasfilm, reveals Star Wars Headphones
  • Scholastic Media teams with Intel to design interactive gaming content
  • Techno Source and KD Interactive showcased their new kid’s tablet
  • Roku is teaming up with TCL and Hisense to create TVs
  • Fitbit collaborates with Tory Burch to create accessories
  • U.S. Army teams with Xentris Wireless for a line of branded mobile cases
  • Belkin and Jarden Consumer Solutions introduce ‘Smart’ Crock-Pot
  • Sakar International launched Celebrity Music Line
  • Sony Computer Entertainment to Offer Streaming Game Service
  • Audiofly and DJ Tiesto launched a new range of headphones

MAGIC Market Week

It’s that time of year again! The bi-annual MAGIC Market Week kicked off in Las Vegas this past Sunday and will go through Wednesday. Here, the largest network of influential buyers, brands, media, and decision makers will be united at 10 merchandised show areas. Thousands of attendees from all over the world will gather to shop at the more than 5,000 apparel and accessory brands on the showroom floor.

Scholastic to create publishing program for Kimmidoll

Scholastic will be creating a publishing program for Kimmidoll. The program for DRi Licensing’s Japanese-inspired lifestyle brand will start off with two sticker books, followed by a press-out-and-play book, and also a search book.

Other licensees have also signed on to create merchandise for the brand: Enesco with a range of collectibles and gifts, Portico Designs for calendars, Elite Gift Boxes for tin giftware and U.K. Greetings for cards and stationery.

Earthbound to create licensing program for Sharknado

SyFy channel’s fictional film, Sharknado, generated the most social media mentions of any program in the history of the network. Sharknado 2 is already in the works and is set to debut in July 2014.

SyFy and The Asylum will be working with Earthbound to create a licensing program for Sharknado which will include creating a range of merchandise such as t-shirts, posters, costumes, games, bags and other accessories.
