Nonprofits Get Busy with Licensing

According to License! Global magazine the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) have signed on several new licensees. The Boy Scouts of America is a nonprofit organization that "provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness." (www.scouting.org).

The Boy Scouts of America is one of a handful of nonprofits who have recognized that they can generate additional revenue by licensing their intellectual property. New licensees for the BSA will launch branded bug repellent products, apparel, scrapbooking supplies and more. Coming out in the first quarter of 2013, consumers will find BSA model trains, camp knives and pinewood derby kits.
